Despite snags, a Grand Junction football gem and a new soccer stadium for Mesa State College will be ready for their respective sports come game time.
This past weekend, the turf at Mesa State's new complex was torn up because of the way the artificial surface was laid, with Kiewit Building Group saying the problems wouldn't be immediate but would become problems none the less.
At Stocker Stadium in Grand Junction, the grass surface was taken out in June to make room for the new synthetic surface, but with three weeks to go until the first snap the field is not complete.
An additional work crew has been brought in from Oklahoma to finish the work and combined with long days, Kiewit has made a virtual guarantee that the fields will be done when needed.
