This winter was a cold one and many of the area fruit growers took a big loss. This was reflected at the American National Bank Downtown Farmer's Market. The first market saw only 5 farmers, but at Thursday's market it had nearly tripled as there were 15 farmers out selling a variety of unique produce.
Organizers say on any given Thursday they see about 5 thousand people out shopping at the market looking for fun and fresh produce.
Kathy Dirks, Grand Junction Downtown Partnership, say " Most of the farmers pick their produce the day of the market, so I don't think you can find any better produce than what we have out here."
The Downtown Farmer's Market will go on for five more weeks rounding off on September 13th.
