CU Enrollment Up, Despite Tuition Increase

University of Colorado officials expect 5,500 to 5,600 new freshmen on the boulder campus this fall.

A total of 5,977 admitted students had paid enrollment deposits as of August 3rd. That was up from the 5,943 students confirmed at
a similar point in 2006, when a record 5,617 new freshmen enrolled.

Not everyone who pays a deposit always attends. The campus expects between 1,200 and 1,300 new transfer students, similar to last year.

Official enrollment numbers will come in September. Enrollment confirmation among minorities is steady at about 15%, or 922 students.

CU officials expect Colorado residents will make up 57-60% of the incoming class.
