The Colorado Department of Transportation says its been working around the clock to secure the 26 1/2 Road Bridge and get traffic back up to speed.
Crews have set up two steel shoring systems to support the bridge until permanent repairs can be made. Permanent repairs will also include knocking down another pillar that was weakened in the crash and replacing it.
Traffic is moving in both directions on Interstate 70. At 6:00 a.m. one westbound lane reopened and by rush hour both eastbound lanes are expected to be back up to speed.
The 26 1/2 Road Bridge remains closed and will throughout construction. CDOT officials say it's too early to tell how long repairs might take and how much it will cost.
