Huntington, Utah (AP) The digging inside Crandall Canyon Coal Mine is on hold as safety officials try to figure out what the next step is.
Three people were killed yesterday and at least six others injured after a cave-in at the mine, where six men have been missing since a collapse on August 6.
Officials are trying to decide how to keep searching for the stranded miners and not risk the lives of anyone else. The three who died yesterday were trying to clear a long tunnel of debris left by the original collapse.
Drilling from above the mine is expected to continue on a fourth hole into the mine. But all work inside the mine itself has been suspended.
