Six kittens are resting safely at an animal shelter after being thrown from a truck.

Roice–Hurst Humane Society director Jenny Key says this is not the first time animals have been dumped near the shelter. She says it is a growing problem.

Key says she will file a complaint with Mesa County Animal Services.

11 News called animal services and it says this kind of crime is difficult to solve.

If animal control officers are able to catch the people who dumped these kittens, they could slap the culprits with a citation or a fine.
