Senator Allard visited Montrose earlier today where he took part in a ribbon cutting ceremony.

He was there to dedicate the city's first affordable housing development in over a decade.

Many gathered from local to state levels to speak and take part in this dedication.

Senator Allard, who is a supporter of low income tax credits, came so he could see how this money was spent.

"My purpose of being here is to see how money is being spent and how programs are working. I'm very pleased with what I see here in Montrose, particularly with various partnerships that have developed to make this possible. That's exactly what we wanted to see with low income tax credit," said Senator Allard.

Right now the apartment complex is empty, but come September 1, ten families will get to move in to their new homes.
