Officials are calling it a miracle after a 20 month old baby girl nearly drowns.
This happened Friday evening right near the Palisade Peach Festival. Officials say the young girl's family was visiting friends at a near by apartment when the toddler wandered through a fence to the canal near River Bend Park. Peach Festival goers saw the little girl floating down the river face up.
Palisade firefighters jumped in the canal and rescued the baby. She was coughing and crying when they pulled her out. Officials say it's a miracle that she didn't drown and that she was floating face up. She was taken to the hospital as a precaution., but again she was alert and breathing when they responded.
