In a recent accident, the pedestrian was following the law and walking in a cross walk, but many others are not, so its important to be cautious when crossing the street.
Putting convenience before safety is never a good choice but many pedestrians near Mesa State do it everyday. Now that school is back in session jaywalking has turned parts North Avenue into a danger zone. Even with crosswalks nearby, people are still not using them correctly or just not using them at all.
Now local law enforcement is stepping up patrols around Mesa State
so if you are jaywalking you could be slammed with a 42 dollar ticket or even worse, a moving car.
