Glenwood Springs Man Wins Powerball

One man from Glenwood Springs got a big pay raise, winning hundreds of thousands in the Colorado lottery. But this wasn't the first time he's been lucky.

Ricky Day is a 48 year old Army veteran who now works at an auto body shop. On August 15, he received some very good news.

After he read his newspaper and looked at the latest Powerball numbers, he noticed the five numbers on his ticket matched the five numbers that had been drawn.

"I can't believe it," said Day. "First I read the newspaper, stirred my coffee, and said I hope this isn't a misprint."

A ten dollar investment at the nearby City Market turned into a four hundred thousand dollar pay out.

But this wasn't the first time he came out of something so lucky. Years ago, he was in a horrific car accident that nearly killed him.

The accident left him in a coma for six months, in the hospital for eight months, and in a wheelchair for a year. Doctors told him he would never be able to walk again.

However, his life took a turn for the better.

"I'm walking now, I can run," said Day. "I beat it, you know. I got custody of my three kids and raised them."

Day says that he is very excited about his winnings and that he'll use the money to purchase a brand new Mustang and maybe a small home close to where he works.

He also says that he'll continue to buy Powerball tickets and hopes that his lucky streak will continue.
