Mesa County School District 51 is hit with a tsunami of information Tuesday, looking for ways to improve the learning process for students in all grades and levels.
When it comes to assessing student progress, there's more to standard tests like CSAP than just scores.
District 51 has broken down the results from CSAP and other tests to see how Mesa County students compare state wide and in some areas, nationally as well.
CSAP scores for reading, writing and math have been broken down into gender, ethnicity, special ed, students on free or reduced lunch, English learning students and the gifted categories.
The dozens of graphs displayed to board members Tuesday reflected the student segment average with the state average scores, which in turn will have an effect on future decisions for curriculum and the overall learning process for students at every school and at all grades and ability levels.
Other assessment tests have also been broken down and board members say one of the best attributes of a data based system is it will put many of the educational decisions in the hands of teachers..
