Passing Over The Port

Two Semi Trucks colliding on Highway 139 and Q Road are raising some eyebrows as to why so many semi trucks are traveling on back roads.

Colorado Law requires all commercial vehicles to stop at any Port of Entry within five miles of their route. State troopers say that they are noticing more and more trucks on back roads, and in some cases they are causing bad accidents. Avoiding the Port of Entry is one reason so many trucks are using back roads.

The penalty for avoiding a port of entry is nearly $70 in Colorado. If this law is broken in Utah that fine is raised to $500.
