GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - Shoe shopping just got scientific. Now you can get your feet scanned before stepping out in a new pair.

Brown's Shoe Fit store on Main Street recently invested in a $9,000 Aetrex machine. Customers step on a platform and more than 5,000 sensors and lights analyze their feet. The machine tells your true shoe size and where you place most of your weight, making it easy for store employees to recommend an insole.

“It's a great diagnostic tool for us. It helps us look at the pressure points and how you stand, and you can see a pretty dramatic change when you get the right insole,” says employee Gregg Palmer.

Customers can see a comparison of their stance with and without an insole. Salespeople say buyers are usually shocked at the difference. The Aetrex machine is only in a few of Brown's Shoe stores throughout the country.
