SUBLETTE, COUNTY, WY (KKCO)_A Grand Junction man is facing charges of aggravated vehicular homicide for causing a crash in Wyoming that killed his friend.
Valdemir Villarreal turned himself in to Grand Junction Police on July 21. In a Mesa County court room Tuesday he agreed to be extradicted to Sublette County, Wyoming to face charges.
Wyoming Highway Patrol says on June 27, Villarreal was driving too fast and missed a curve. The car rolled one time. Villarreal then fled the scene of the accident leaving his friend Jose Salazar trapped in the car.
Troopers say three hours after the crash Villarreal turned himself to the sheriff's office and was air lifted to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho for treatment.
Salazar was 27-years-old and from Clifton.
No word on if drugs or alcohol played a part in the fatal crash.
Villarreal is being held at the Mesa County Jail without bond awaiting extradition.
