GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - After weeks of taking public input, City of Grand Junction leaders say they're ready to move forward with plans for a new public safety center.
During a retreat last weekend council members instructed city staff to begin creating concrete plans for what the facility would look like, how much it would cost, and how it could be paid for.
They say those plans will incorporate the comments they received during their Public Safety Listening Tour that recently wrapped up.
An administrative meeting has already been scheduled for council members to review what staff comes up with. Council members say once they settle on an option, they'll bring it back to the public for more input.
"It's certainly a priority for this City Council," said Teresa Coons, Mayor of the City of Grand Junction. "We would like to get something in motion, get some plan set in motion before the beginning of next year."
Council members say regardless of what the final plan looks like, it will not include any kind of ballot measure for the November 2010 elections.
