GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- The changing face of health care is a rising concern for many and the annual 9Health Fair is a place where residents in the Grand Valley can get answers at a low cost.
Jeanette Seal has been attending the 9Health Fair for years.
“We come every year because we feel it's a good opportunity to get our blood drawn and get our tests done at a reasonable price," says Seal.
Thousands participate in the 9Health Fair, which moved this year to Intellitec College.
The fair offers many different screenings and the opportunity for participants to speak with healthcare professionals. Another popular attraction- the blood draws for a fraction of the cost.
“As everyone knows, that can be a high cost item in your health, so this way gives an opportunity to be able to utilize that," says Sandy Sheppard Outreach Coordinator at Intellitec College.
Volunteers are key to running a successful health fair. Retired nurses Monica Odom and Nancy Enstrom traveled from Nucla to help out.
“We’ve done it forever and it always makes you just kind feel good to see people come out and utilize some of this," said Enstrom.
For attendees like Seal, she'll continue to attend each year to help own her health.
“It's an easy simple way to find out a lot of facts about yourself," said Seal.
If you missed the 9Health Fair today, you have a chance to make it Saturday from 7am to 12pm at Intellitec College located at 772 Horizon Drive.
