GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. In honor of those who have served our country, restaurants, both nationally and locally, gave veterans a free meal or a discount on their food on Veterans Day.

Many of the veterans say they appreciate the free meal. It adds to the feeling of being appreciated for their service on a special day.

While the vets enjoy their free meal on this year's Veterans Day, they enjoy the company even more. The veterans like having the chance to get out with other veterans and share their stories. They share those stories not only with other vets, but with family as well.

Many locations, including Chili’s and the Golden Corral, participated in offering the food deals to veterans. Officials from Chili’s say it’s a great way to give back to those who have done so much for us. They also said they feel honored to serve those who have served our country.
