GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. The sign-up deadline is coming up quickly for the affordable care act.
"Enrollment events" were held all across the country Saturday and more than 6-million Americans have now signed up for private insurance under the President's signature health care law.
That's fewer than the administration's original goal of 7 million, but reflects a surge in recent weeks, as technical glitches in the healthcare.gov website have been resolved.
Thousands of "health care navigators" and volunteers have staffed crowded enrollment events, as the sign-up period for 2014 coverage goes down to the wire.
The deadline of March 31 will be extended to mid-April for people who have already tried to sign up for coverage but were unable to complete the task.
