Airport Authority will not be prosecuted

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. The federal investigation into the Grand Junction Regional Airport continues but the Airport Authority Board is safe from prosecution after a new agreement was ratified on Tuesday night.

According to an agreement between the board, the Department of Justice and the US Attorney of Colorado, the Airport Authority Board will not be prosecuted during the federal investigation.

"The rest of the Department of Justice investigation continues and it is expansive," says Authority Board Commissioner, Rick Wagner. "We appreciate their working on this with us so early for an investigation of this kind."

The agreement came with stipulations that the Authority Board would continue to make improvements; including a compliance plan, revisions of their by-laws and the implementation of a mechanism for annual feedback regarding the board's operations.
