Arrest made in Orchard Avenue shooting

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- An arrest has been made following Monday night's shooting on Orchard Avenue.

Julio Castro Quinones, 18, of Grand Junction is facing charges of criminal attempt to commit murder and assault in the first degree.

Quinones is currently being held in the Mesa County Detention Facility without bond.

The warrant and related documents have been sealed, therefore further information and his booking photo are not being released at this time.

This case remains active and on-going.

On Oct.1 around 11 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a shooting at 2915 Orchard Avenue.

Phillip Burchim, 34, was found outside of the apartment complex with a gunshot wound to his chest.

The victim says he was walking by when several men on an apartment balcony asked if he wanted to buy some marijuana.

An argument broke out, and Burchim was shot.

According to an arrest affidavit, the men ran away after the shooting.

Burchim was listed in fair condition at the hospital yesterday.
