GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. An explosion last March at the Monument Inn that was thought to be in connection with the creation of marijuana butane hash oil prompted an arrest this week.

Matthew Todd Simms is being charged with fourth degree arson by placing property of another in danger of damage and others in danger of serious injury, manufacturing marijuana concentrate, and reckless endangerment.

Simms was arrested by a Mesa County Sheriff's Office deputy on May 11th. He is suspected of trying to manufacture the hash oil in a hotel room at the Monument Inn using butane. The butane ignited, causing an explosion that burned Simms. Several other people were also in the room at the time.
