Audyssey receives $7,000 grant

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - The Audyssey program of Mesa Developmental Services received a $7,000 grant for making Colorado one of the healthiest states in the nation.

The program started in May and offers guidance and support to people with Autism and their families.

The grant was one of the first big contributions to the program and officials with MDS say it's one that will make a big difference.

"This funding will help because there often isn't insurance available for individuals with Autism," said Sharon Jacksi, VP for behavior health and welness at MDS. "This will help provide some of those direct services."

Each year one out of 88 children throughout the United States are born with Autism. With this in mind, Mesa Developmental Services has been working with local organizations and families to provide assistance to all ages.
