Charges pending for driver in deadly hit and run

AURORA, Colo. (AP) The driver of an SUV involved in a fatal hit and run in Aurora has turned herself in and has been released.

Police said the female driver and an adult female passenger turned themselves in at the Aurora Police Station hours after the early Sunday incident.

Police say a male victim was lying in a road lane near the Anschutz Medical Campus when witnesses say the SUV ran over him. Witnesses told police the driver made a U-turn and slowly drove back past the scene before leaving.

Police did not release additional details, including the driver's name, name of the victim or why he was lying in the road.

Police said the case remains under investigation and potential charges are pending.
