Garfield County, Colo. (KKCO) --- The Bureau of Land Management is reevaluating hundreds of gas and oil sites in Garfield County using a new model to judge potential effects on air quality.

The BLM agreed to conduct the reexamination in a court settlement with an environmental group.

It was using an air analysis model from the Roan Plateau when looking at applications for other wells in Garfield County between 2006 and 2011, which brought on the suit.

BLM says that model included analysis of the air for the entire area around the Roan Plateau.

However, the judge ruled the old air model invalid and BLM officials settled to avoid further court costs.
