Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO) - How much plastic do you use in your everyday life?

It's something we don't often think about, but it was on the forefront of everyone's mind at a screening of "Bag It: Is Your Life Too Plastic?" at Colorado Mesa University Tuesday night.

The award-winning documentary begins with a single plastic bag from the grocery and evolves into a film about how much plastic is in our world and how little we think about the impact of this "all too disposable product."

Organizers say the goal of the film is to inspire people to find better ways to use the product.

They are encouraging people to use plastics that are recyclable.

One big environmental issue is that there are tons of plastic products, wraps, bags, etc. being produced everyday in the United States.

"These are all products of a one time use only plastic cup, or plastic bottle that is designed to be used one time, and ends up staying in our eco-system for a millennium," said Tom Acker, a Peace & Justice board member.

The showing was free. After the film ended, the floor was open for a discussion on the topic.
