GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- With Election Day looming closer, only 20 percent of ballots have been mailed in, according to the Mesa County Clerk and Recorder.

"I'm concerned about that --not in the sense that people aren't voting for me-- I'm concerned that voting is such a privilege and such a rare privilege in the whole world that it should be appreciated and taken advantage of," said District E Candidate Robert Noble.

Noble said campaigning has been an eye-opening experience when it comes to diving into city issues.

"This election is going to affect everybody in the community for four to eight years. It's going to have an impact on people's pocket books, and it's their chance to voice what they'd like to see," said Noble.

Martin Chazen is running for the District D seat and said all ten candidates are invested in the future of the city.

"There's a chance to have a City Council here in Grand Junction that is business friendly and fiscally conservative, and for me, that's what the campaign has been all about," said Chazen.

Duncan L. McArthur said for him, it's important to stay positive and make people hear his message of bringing innovation.

"I have a desire to give back to the community, and I think I can bring some innovation, and I think that's there, everyone is there, for a valid reason, running for valid purposes and all have a desire to serve," said McArthur.

Nearly 30,000 mail-in ballots were mailed out on March 11, and 6,200 have been returned so far.
