GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - The big day is upon us... It's Valentine’s Day. Which means it's time for love, romance, and most importantly, chocolate.
If there's any tempting tour to take around town, it's behind the scenes at Enstrom’s. They've been prepping since just after Christmas for Valentine’s Day to make sure they have all of their ribbons tied and heart boxes sealed in time to make hearts beat today.
"People just want to indulge a little, and who doesn't like chocolate?” says Charlene Watson, Grand Junction area Retail Manager for Enstrom’s.
It's a question Enstrom’s has been pondering for the over 50 years they've been in business in Grand Junction.
"We get excited about the holidays because that's really what we're here for,” says Doug Tuttle, Director of Manufacturing.
The people at Enstrom’s invited KKCO 11 News behind the scenes for an exclusive look at what it takes to make hearts beat for their chocolate.
Another hot v-day seller, chocolate covered strawberries of course.
"Last year in just one day in just the downtown location, I think we had like 200 pounds of strawberries. And when you see them out dipped, that's a lot of strawberries,” says Watson.
Kitchen Lead Becca Botts says they make about 250 pounds of chocolate covered strawberries just for Valentines Day alone.
"Tuesday will be crazy. It will be crazy busy back here; it’s an all day thing,” says Botts.
Enstrom's says that while Christmas is their busiest holiday, the few days before Valentine’s, including today, packs the most business in the shortest time span. They also tell me while you might think a lot of guys wait until the last minute, women seem to wait as well.
