GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) Orchard Avenue Elementary school turned its parking lot into a bike rodeo grounds to teach kids how to obey the rules of the road while on their bikes.
Students learned about helmet fitting and signals to use in the classroom and got the chance to test them out in real life.
Kids got on their bikes and completed different courses to learn balancing skills, speed control and using turn signals when necessary.
The goal of the day was to get students comfortable with getting out on real roads and following the rules they learned.
Organizers say it's up to parents to help their kids remember the skills though
