Bookcliff Middle School gives back

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo (KKCO) Bookcliff Middle School students and staff started raising money and taking donations months ago. But the pay off came Saturday when three local families received a holiday dinner and gifts for the children. The Bookcliff student body vice president says its a great experience, and he loved how involved each of the students were in the project. "It's very, it makes my heart warm, it's very special; I'm glad to do it; I've done it all three years," said Tate Higgins, Bookcliff Student body Vice-President.

Several students got to pick out the presents from the family wish lists and wrap them before being dropped off. The school raised $2,400 dollars and more than 700 cans of food. Each family receives a turkey, vegetables, and something sweet for dessert.

The program started several years ago, and Bookcliff faculty say it's a tradition that will stick around for a long time.
