I-70 back open after semi crash

UPDATED @ 10:53 a.m. MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KKCO)- A semi driver had to be cut out his truck after rolling it on I–70 early Monday morning. The accident blocked both westbound lanes of the Interstate for more than three hours.

The accident happened at mile marker two just before 1:30 am. According to Colorado State Patrol, 32–year–old Andrew Thomson was driving west on I–70 in a semi truck with double pup trailers near Rabbit Valley.

CPS says he was going around a right hand curve when he when he went off the left side of the road and drove 226 feet in the dirt median then over corrected and rolled the semi onto its side. The semi then slid more than 90 feet.

The Utah man's legs were pinned in the cab and he had to be extricated.
Thomson was taken to the hospital with non–life threatening injuries, no word on his condition yet.

Alcohol is not suspected and a ticket has not been issued at this time.

UPDATED @ 8:54 a.m. MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KKCO) Traffic is flowing again along I-70 after a semi rollover closed both westbound lanes for a time Monday morning.

Authorities had estimated it could take several hours to move a semi-truck that was blocking both lanes at the Rabbit Valley exit, mile marker 2.

Both eastbound lanes remained open.

MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KKCO) - According to our 11 News Crew on the scene, the semi has rolled, pinning a man's legs in the cab.

The man is conscious, but the semi is blocking both Westbound lanes of the Interstate.

A witness says the semi has leaked fuel onto the pinned man. Careflight is on standby.

C-DOT has confirmed that both Westbound lanes the Utah border are closed, and there is currently no estimate for when they will be reopened.
