BOULDER, Colo. (AP) -- The Boulder Council is set to review the city's trash policy after calls for much stricter enforcement against people who store their garbage in ways that attract bears.

The Daily Camera reports residents are invited to give feedback on a variety of options at a meeting scheduled for 5 p.m. on Monday at the West Senior Center. The City Council is set to take a new look at the trash policy Jan. 21.

Valerie Matheson, Boulder's urban wildlife coordinator, says the city has developed a number of options on which it wants to hear public opinion before making a recommendation to the City Council.

Four bears were killed this year in Boulder by Colorado Parks and Wildlife, and some residents say the city needs to move beyond just education and get serious about enforcement.
