BOULDER, Colo. (AP) -- Boulder County authorities say a special crew has been called in to search bodies of water near where a 74-year-old hiker went missing earlier this week.

Cmdr. Rick Brough with the sheriff's office says Patricia Wallace of Lafayette was hiking with a group of friends in the Camp Dick area northwest of Boulder on Tuesday afternoon when she decided to take an alternate route she thought would be easier.

The Daily Camera (http://bit.ly/NbI8bt ) reports Wallace, who may be suffering from early stages of dementia, is 5-foot-5, 135 pounds, with dark brown hair and hazel eyes. She was last seen wearing a big floppy hat and often hikes with trekking poles.
