BOULDER, Colo. (AP) -- Boulder County authorities say a special crew has been called in to search bodies of water near where a 74-year-old hiker went missing earlier this week.

Cmdr. Rick Brough with the sheriff's office says Patricia Wallace of Lafayette was hiking with a group of friends in the Camp Dick area northwest of Boulder on Tuesday afternoon when she decided to take an alternate route she thought would be easier.

The Daily Camera ( ) reports Wallace, who may be suffering from early stages of dementia, is 5-foot-5, 135 pounds, with dark brown hair and hazel eyes. She was last seen wearing a big floppy hat and often hikes with trekking poles.
