Boy wounded in accidental shooting in Lakewood

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (AP) -- A 12-year-old boy is recovering after police say he was accidentally shot by another boy at a Lakewood home.

The Denver Post tells us police were called to the 500 block of Sheridan Boulevard at about 9:30 p.m. Friday and found the boy with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police Detective Ryan Mckone says the victim and a 14-year-old boy found a handgun in the home, and the older boy accidentally fired a shot while the two were playing with the weapon. Mckone added that it appears adults were in the home at the time of the shooting, but it has not been determined if anyone will be charged.

The victim was taken to a hospital in stable condition.

Mckone says the boys were related.
