GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- Breast cancer survivors can declare their freedom from the disease with a little help from a local clinic.
Bellezza Laser Aesthetics is offering free-radiation-treatment tattoo removal for breast cancer survivors during the month of October.
All breast cancer patients get a tattoo that pinpoints location of their tumor so they can later receive radiation treatment in that area.
Now, patients can get that removed if she has the approval of their oncologist is welcome to take advantage of the service.
"Breast cancer is very personal to me. My mom was diagnosed eight years ago, so anything we can do to help breast cancer survivors. Men and women because everyone is affected, and early detection is key," said Lisa Holmes with Bellezza.
Holmes says the procedure isn't painful; patients may feel just a little pinch.
The program is in its second year, but those at Bellezza are hoping to help more patients put their battle with cancer behind them by removing the permanent reminders of their treatment this time around.
