GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Palisade is already well-known for it's peaches and it's wine; now one hotel is doing what it can to bring even more visitors to town.
When Executive Chef Marcelo Marino started working at the Wine Country Inn last summer he said he wanted to take advantage of all that Palisade had to offer.
Now, the hotel is taking advantage of all he has to offer, to bring in more business through cooking classes.
"The idea is at the end of those classes when you go home you have something that you can take with you," says Marino. "Some experiences, some new tips or suggestions how to present or how to cook or how to go and shop!"
The hotel's owners say the new cooking course will help make the inn a destination spot for tourists.
And even though it's a slow season for the hotel right now, they have seen several people come in just for the classes.
They aren't cheap; they start at $780 per couple, but include one-on-one instruction, lodging at the inn, a private wine reception, trips to local tasting rooms, all the food you work with.
Good news for locals though, the inn is offering a special deal of only $210 per person to get all of those things without lodging.
