DEBEQUE, Colo. (KKCO) Crews from the Colorado Department of Transportation will be working Thursday and Friday to pump out water from the median of I-70.

I-70 east and westbound lanes between De Beque and Parachute will have lane closures while crews work.

Periodic full traffic stops are possible when equipment is being moved. The crews should be finished around 3:30 p.m Thursday, but they will start up again Friday morning.

CDOT workers said it was difficult to find a pump as most have been shipped to the Front Range for flood recovery.

"We're going to get it out of here so it won't freeze up if it does come in and get cold so we won't have water running across the road causing accidents," said Joel Berschauer, a CDOT employee.

After the water is out, crews will get started on removing extra rocks and debris out of the median.
