GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) – If you're looking to get a little dirty this weekend, you'll have a chance to on Saturday, at the second annual CMU Mucked Up Desert Challenge.
The event is an obstacle-filled 5-k run, and the course features a tire run, a hay bale climb, a fire pit, and of course at the finish line competitors jump in to a pool of mud.
The event is a benefit for CMU's athletic scholarship fund and the Colorado Fallen Firefighters Foundation.
" The Western Slope has a few mud runs and we've heard that this is the toughest mud run, but anybody can do it beginners, it's a lot of fun we get people in costumes, we got students, we get the elderly out here actually participating in it. It's a lot of fun. 12 different obstacles, come out here and see how tough you are,” says Britton Crone, the event coordinator.
Those who join in the fun will get a free t-shirt and a beer from the Palisade Brewery beer garden as they enjoy live music.
Things kick off at 10 am on Saturday out in the desert, North of the Grand Junction Regional Airport off 27 1/2 road.
You can register online, up to midnight on Friday or at the event on Saturday.
