CMU to host an evening of opera

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) – The vocal performance students of the Opera Workshop will be presenting An Evening of Opera on Nov. 13 in the MPAC Recital Hall at Colorado Mesa University. The show will begin at 7:30 p.m.

CMU’s Opera Workshop class will be in concert performing some of the most well known ensembles including Belle Nuit, O Nuit d’amour, from Offenbach’s, The Tales of Hoffman and the equally sublime, Soave sia il vento from Mozart’s, Cosi fan tutte, by Mozart. There will also be Watch Duet, from Die Fledermaus, and a rare performance of the Baroque operatic gem, Amanti a giocare, by Luigi Rossi.

The evening will include several solo arias, presented by the students. Selections may include The Ballad of Baby Doe, Tannhauser, The Pirates of Penzance, and The Marriage of Figaro.

The Opera Workshop is lead by CMU Voice Professor’s Drs. Jack Delmore and Kathleen Ruhleder. Doug Morrow will be the accompanist. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $5 for students and are available by calling 970-248-1604.
