MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KKCO) – A routine traffic stop takes off into a high-speed pursuit early Wednesday morning.
At 2:13 a.m., a Colorado State Patrol trooper tried to pull over a driver for weaving near 30 Road and Elm Avenue, but the man refused to pull over.
Instead, he led the trooper on a chase. He began running red lights and stop signs, averaging between 40 and 50 miles per hour.
Finally, near 27 ½ and D roads, the trooper bumped the vehicle’s rear end and caused it to spin and rollover.
Troopers drew their weapons as they approached the car, and the driver was arrested without incident.
CSP says he was not injured, but troopers took him to the hospital to be sure. He was then transported to the Mesa County Jail.
