DELTA, Colo. (KKCO) - Authorities are investigating whether or not alcohol played a role in a fatal accident this weekend.

Colorado State Patrol responded to the scene of an accident involving a motorcycle and pick up truck on Highway 65 near mile marker 4.3 around 6:45 p.m. Saturday evening.

Authorities say a motorcycle was following a Ford F-250 going southbound. When the pick up truck slowed for a deer in the roadway, the motorcycle driver crashed into him.

The biker was transported to the Delta County Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Authorities are not releasing his name at this time pending notification of kin.

The pick up driver was not injured in the crash.

We'll continue to update this story as we hear more information.
