Cancer prevention study

Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO) --- This week, at St. Mary's Regional Cancer Center, Grand Junction residents are getting the chance to participate in a cancer prevention study.

Participants fill out a questionnaire, have their waist measured and then give a small amount of blood.

The study is looking to find connections between healthy lifestyles and the prevention of cancer.

"It's unprecedented because this is the first and only study right now being done around prevention," says Director of Health Services for the American Cancer Society, Lauren Ambrozic. "It's kind of the study of our generation that we get to say, 'we participated in that.'"

Ambrozic says that they welcome walk-ins but there are still appointments available for Friday and Saturday.
