Capitol Christmas tree brings traditional festivities

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) – The U.S. Forest Service, Choose Outdoors, and local community partners will be bringing the U.S. capitol Christmas tree to Grand Junction on Thursday, Nov. 8. Festivities will take place in the Cabela’s parking lot from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. People of all ages are invited to celebrate this free annual tradition.

The capitol festivities will include:
- 12 local Patriot Riders will lead the 105' truck
- Central High School JROTC Color Guard
- Smokey the Bear, Santa and Mrs. Claus will ride in
- Music performances by Morgan Crouse
- Kids Ornament Decorating Table
- Apple Cider provided by Talbott Farms
- Capitol Christmas Tree cookies compliments of City Market
- Booths and Exhibits on display

The tree will be on display at the Cabela’s parking lot located at 2424 US Hwy 6 & 50.

Guests can park in any Mesa Mall parking space and disabled parking will be available. Grand Valley Transit will maintain regular routes to the mall.

The Christmas tree will be wrapped and transported to Washington D.C.
