UPDATE: Car slips off blocks, kills man underneath it

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) – A man is killed when a car he was working on falls on top of him.

The 50-year-old man, whose identity has not been released, was doing maintenance on a Dodge Daytona on the 500 block of Darby Drive around noon Tuesday.

As he worked underneath it, the car slipped off the wooden blocks it was sitting on, hitting the man and trapping him. The blocks were sitting on icy and snowy patches in the road.

A neighbor ran over and used a jack to lift the car off him and relieve the pressure.

Grand Junction Fire Department crews took the injured man to a local hospital, but he died from his wounds.

Grand Junction Police are currently investigating the incident.

As cruel as this is, I guess HE HAS PASSED ON and will be unable to learn from his Mistake. If anything GOOD can come of this mishap, I hope others might learn SOMETHING from this Tragic end. Accidents only take seconds to happen. So take whatever time is needed to try to eliminate them. RIP

With the Recent Story update, which NOW contains a Photo of said Car, stands to reason why Wooden Blocks were used. Not even a Backyard Mechanic, Shade-tree maybe, Ghetto for sure.

There's NOTHING WRONG with saving Money by performing your OWN Auto Maintenance.. PROVIDED you have the knowledge to do so CORRECTLY. Supporting ones Car with Wooden Blocks is in NO WAY the correct way. If you DON'T have the proper equipment for the task, buy it, or don't bother to do it. This Idiot is lucky he wasn't killed or maimed in some ghettoise way. Should have used Jack Stands and Wheel Blocks / Chocks in supporting said Car, all available for under $50.00.
