GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Colorado Mesa University gets the students and the community riled up about their upcoming rodeo.

Thursday's steer stroll previews the rodeo team's weekend competiton.

Students, little mavericks, and community members all gathered today to watch the rodeo team lead 13 steers across the CMU campus.

Even though the cattle were moving a lot slower than last year, the energy of crowd has the team pumped for this weekend's competition.

"They're really excited about this, I got some kids that are doing really good this year, roping, goat tying. So, hopefully they'll have a good rodeo," says Coach Allen.

The growing popularity of the rodeo team has drawn in lots of new faces to the steer stroll this year, and they expect the same at the rodeo later this week.

You can catch the the rodeo on Friday and Saturday at the Mesa County Fairgrounds beginning at 7 P.M.
