Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO) – 'Tis the season for family and friends, and Thursday night, that was ringing true at Hospice and Palliative Care. They came together to celebrate with the lighting of the holiday decorations on the hospice campus.

The evening started with the CMU chamber choir, and then Chaplain Scott Hogue lead everyone in prayer before the switch was flipped on the campus lights.

"I think that it's just time to pause, remember those who are important to us and to remember what the season is really about and to really celebrate this campus because it's a place where special things happen, and it's a place we can come together as a community to support each other,” said Christy Whitney, president and CEO Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado.

Butterfly Christmas ornaments that have a place for the names of lost loved ones were on sale for $20, with proceeds going to help Hospice programs. If you weren’t able to get your butterfly Christmas ornaments on Thursday, you can stop by Hospice during the holiday season to pick one up.

After the lighting of the campus, everyone was invited inside to enjoy cookies and hot cider provided by Spoons Bistro and Bakery.
