Grand Junction city calendars come at a cost

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) When you receive your phonebook in the next few days, you'll also be getting your 2014 Grand Junction City Calendar and Annual Report.

Each year the city prints about 50,000 calendars using money for from the communications budget in the general fund.

City officials say they cost about $0.80 each or $40,000 total, which is less than it used to be.

"We used to mail them out and so that was a much larger expense," says city spokesperson, Sam Rainguet. "We also used to pay for the photographs that were in there and that was a much larger expense and so we've cut back on the cost of it quite a bit over the years."
