Lawyers ready for key hearing in theater shooting

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (AP) -- Prosecutors and defense lawyers in the Colorado theater shooting case say they're ready for a crucial hearing next week.

Lawyers for both sides told a judge Wednesday that they're prepared to proceed with a preliminary hearing starting Monday in which prosecutors will outline their case against James Holmes.

At its conclusion, State District Judge William B. Sylvester will decide if the evidence is sufficient to put Holmes on trial.

Holmes is charged with killing 12 people and wounding 70 on July 20 in a movie theater in the Denver suburb of Aurora. Prosecutors say he opened fire during a midnight showing of the Batman movie "The Dark Night Rises."

Here we go again. This man is mentally ill. He bought all the armor, gun, and selected the only movie theater with a "gun free zone" sign; the other 6 theaters didn't restrict guns. He should never see the out side of an institution and then when rehab is done. Or we will see him do it again as happened in NY .
