Colorado gas prices are rising faster than national prices

Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO) - Gas prices in Colorado are climbing fast.

While our state's prices are lower than the national average, Colorado is increasing at a higher rate.

The latest figures show Colorado residents paying an average of $3.58 for a gallon of regular gas; whereas the U.S. average is $3.77 a gallon.

Even though gas prices are less in Colorado, that doesn't mean the prices are any easier on local residents.

"I honestly had to take a second job in order to seriously pay for the gas along with food and stuff," said Amy Todd, Glade Park resident.

Just last month, gas prices were under $3 here in Grand Junction, making local residents pay about an $.80 difference per gallon now.

Even with the $.80 increase, we're still under the national average price per gallon.
