Colorado healthcare deadline extended

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. With the March 31st deadline just around the corner, many coloradans are afraid they will be left without health care coverage.

If you haven't had the time to sit down and pick out a plan or you're just having trouble with your application, you'll be happy to know the state of Colorado has given residents an extension.

The extension is different than the federal extension announced earlier this week.

"If a person has submitted an online or paper application to either medicaid or connect for health care colorado, we'll be able to see them all the way through," says Jackie Sievers of Hilltop's Health Access.

The federal extension requires applicants to simply attempt the connect for health care sign up process while the state extension requires a complete application.

But once that is submitted, if some of your paperwork turns up missing or you experience technical difficulties, connect for health colorado will be ready to work with you past March 31st to ensure your coverage.
