FRUITA, Colo. Congressman Scott Tipton stopped by the Fruita Town Hall meeting on Monday night to give residents the latest update on revamping jobs on the Western Slope.
The question and answer portion of the town hall meeting on Monday afternoon was preceded by a quick address by Rep. Tipton regarding the need to bring jobs and opportunities back to the area.
To date, two bills introduced by Rep. Tipton have been signed into law and another four are awaiting Senate approval. These bills would help alleviate the nearly 8000 people that have relocated from the Western Slope to find work.
He believes the key to reviving the economy is to push job creation.
“Our hope for the grand valley and throughout the 3rd Congressional District is to create those opportunities for success right here,” says Rep. Tipton.
On Tuesday, the Republican Congressman will speak at the Small Business Resource Summit at Colorado Mesa University from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the University Center.
Then, from 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. he will meet with Mesa County Commissioners to discuss other issues affecting the Western Slope.
